Reading and Learning
"Once born into childlike faith, brimming with belief, typical people begin to lose their faith. Society mocks them.Their friends smirk. They come to change the world, but over time the world changes them. Soon they forget who they were, they forget the faith they once had. Then one day someone tells them the truth but they don't want to go back because they're comfortable in their new skin. Being a stranger in this world is never easy."
Today was Michael's day to help at the Food Pantry so as usual it was light on schoolwork.
Today the preschoolers practiced writing the letter Ss. We talked about the sun and learned that the word sun begins with S. This week we are learning a song about Mr. Sun so we practiced singing it together. They were happy to see that the sun was shining and we could play outside today. And they completed dot-to-dot sun worksheets as well.

In the Kitchen
This morning I made Greek Yogurt Bread, hoping to have some for breakfast. But it didn't turn out well for me. It looked beautiful when I took it out of the oven, but flattened as it cooled. And when I cut it I realized I hadn't let it bake long enough and it was still very doughy inside. So, we had store bought bread for breakfast and the chickens enjoyed the soggy bread.
For lunch the kids helped me make one of their favorite casseroles - Tater Tot Casserole. The first time we made this it was simply because I was craving it. It had no idea it would be such a hit with the kids. But after I saw how little was left over I decided it would be one of our regular dishes.
Outdoor Fun
Our kitchen play set was looking pretty grimy so today we took it outside and gave it a good scrubbing. Michael's bike got washed as well. Since most of our free play is outside now, I decided to leave the kitchen set outside.
We also gave the chickens a fresh layer of bedding.
There was lots of cooking and selling ice cream going on here this afternoon.
