I am gathering with other writers over at Five Minute Friday. Today's prompt word for the Five Minute Friday Challenge is "Permission."
Permission!
Sometimes we need to give ourselves permission to breathe.
This week I gave myself permission to hand the responsibility of a time consuming but not difficult job to a teenager instead of insisting that I am the only that can do this properly. I feel like I can breathe!
This week I gave myself permission to buy a meal for a family in need instead making it at home. It will be a delicious, nutritious meal. The need will be met and met well. And I will be able to breathe.
This week I gave myself permission to turn on "Do Not Disturb" on my phone for an hour each evening and listen to an audio book during that time. I needed that time. My brain needed to reset. And all was well.
I do not have to do it all. I do not have be everything for everybody. I have permission to do the things I am called to do, and also to nourish my mind and body and soul. I have permission to bless others while allowing myself to be blessed.
I gave myself permission to take a deep breath. And that is good.
Deep breath. Breathe in YAH Breathe out WEH!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is all good!! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, we need to give ourselves that permission not to try to do it all and to make sure we look after ourselves as well as others! Visiting from FMF #3
ReplyDeleteThis. All day long. We put so much pressure on ourselves. This was really beautifully written. FMF#23
ReplyDeleteIt seems the way the world goes 'round,
ReplyDeletefor me, it's got a plan:
leap buildings in a single bound
and make like Superman.
Show compassion to the weak
while living strongman's dream;
be like Jesus, mild and meek,
and whip up haute cuisine.
It's sort of a tall order,
and I done did my best,
but time is growing shorter,
and I think I'm gonna rest
from demands the world is giving
and just concentrate on living.
