All the Fun of Spring

All the fun things of Spring are going on around here right now.

We took the Coco Coir Fiber we rehydrated on Monday and planted carrots, radishes and carrots in it. I'm planting these things in pots so that I have more room in my smallish garden area to plant other things.

Yesterday we introduced the ducks to their new habitat and the big white rooster that will be living with them. The ducks are not staying out there full time yet but I wanted to start getting the acquainted with their space. And I wanted see how the rooster would react to them being in his space. He seems fine with it, although he was very curious. He's been living alone for awhile because he and the rooster in my other pen do not get along at all. He was being kept from eating and moving freely around the coop, so I rescued him and gave him a new space to live. I think he enjoys the company of the ducks.

Today the little chicks and one little turkey also got to spend a lot of time outside. The ducks and rooster seem very relaxed together. And the eggs from the older set of chickens are beginning to be a regular find.

With longer days and warmer weather we get to go for walks in the evenings. Dogs and babies both appreciate this!

Yesterday when I was reading Proverbs 24 these two verses really jumped out at me.

By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge it's rooms are furnished with rare and beautiful treasures.  Proverbs 24:3-4

True wisdom comes only from God.

One of my very favorite verses is James 1:5 where it says "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who give generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." When I am unsure of things the Holy Spirit often reminds me that I don't have to figure it out on my own, but that I can ask God for wisdom, and He will give it to me, because He gives generously, and finds no fault in me for asking.  And wisdom from God is often leads in a much different direction than human "wisdom" would suggest. As Isaiah 55:8-9 says " 'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are My ways your ways' declares the Lord.  'As the heavens are high above the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.' " Then, when I have asked God for wisdom, knowing He will give it to me, I can add understanding and knowledge to that wisdom, with the confidence that I am building on a firm foundation.
