The most effective way to do it, is to do it.
~ Amelia Earhart.
Sometimes I feel like a little child, barefoot, barely walking, dragging my teddy bear along with me for moral support, as I look at the steps I need to take, the journey that is calling me forward. But forward I must go because this journey is calling me. I know I need to take steps - maybe not confidently, or gracefully. Maybe just pulling myself up on my hands on knees, one step at a time . . . because each step taken, regardless of how I manage to climb it, is vitally important.
Momentum is highly under rated.
It is easy for me to get caught up in finding the best way to do something. I look for the best method, the most efficient way. I get caught up in planning every detail, trying to peer into the future and cipher out what may or may not happen and to be prepared for every eventuality.
But this can lead to a lot of busy work with no real results. And it can lead to fear. Because while I may think I am looking at possibilities for moving forward, sometimes all this looking leads to looking at all the things that could go wrong. There is no way to predict exactly what may or may not go right or wrong. But one thing is sure. Sitting still will get me nowhere.
Each of us on is on a journey and each of our journeys will look different. We are each gifted with talents, skills, experiences, and passions designed to show us the direction our journey needs to take us. But the journey will not even begin if the first steps are not taken.
So it's important to begin moving forward. Take the first step - even if it is uncertain. Even if you are unsure. Even if, like a child beginning to learn to move forward, you have to crawl. Just start moving. And with each step you will gain strength and confidence. With each step you will see more clearly the step ahead. With each step you will strengthen your ability to move forward.
It's a new year. New year's bring thoughts of fresh starts, adventure and opportunity waiting around the corner, journeys to embark upon. Let's not hesitate.
Just do it!
