Saturday - Enjoying the Process

Inspiration
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28

Reading and Learning

Our culture begs us to focus on our arrival and have no patience for the process of getting there. In a world driven by goals, the trophy is given to the fastest runner in the race, the quickest achiever, often overlooking the process. We are so busy; we don't have time to wait. We desire instantaneous destination. Of course we need goals, we need a dream, we need to see something in the future to focus on and get moving, right? Pitching a tent in what might happen one day and waiting to live fully until then is a sad way to exist.

"Beware of destination addiction: The idea that happiness is in the next place, the next job, or even with the next partner. Until you give up the idea that happiness is somewhere else, it will never be where you are."
~ Shelley Giglio

How often do we miss the gift of joy now because it is camouflaged in the process of the present? But all of what you are facing right now is not a side note to your story, it is your story. God desires to use us because of our failure, hurt, pain, and agony, not in spite of it. We've been entrusted with not only a promise, but a process.

Outdoor Fun

Our outdoor fun for today was putting together a chicken run. These poor chickens were so crowded in the little coop I had for them so I was excited when this run I ordered was finally delivered. Michael was an awesome help and we were able to put it together with less trouble than I expected. It took me a little to figure out how to get the door attached properly but I was able to find a video that explained it better than the almost useless instructions that came with it.
When we opened it up to the chickens they were so happy. They were able to run and flap and even fly a little. It made all the hard work (and the heat) worth every minute.

Other Fun

We needed to run a few errands this evening and decided to also go to Ming Garden for dinner. We love this Chinese buffet. Most of their food is Chinese food, but there are a few other things on the buffet as well and it always amuses me to see cheese pizza on Michael's plate. He loves Chinese food but just can't pass up that pizza. I like their frog legs, and their salt and pepper shrimp. And the baked crab and shrimp is amazing!

On My Mind

Sometimes when I'm putting together these daily posts I wonder why I do it. It can feel like sometimes like I'm just posting the same/similar things over and over again. And yet, it is that daily celebration of stability, slow but steady progress, and enjoying the moments of each day, even if they are small moments, that make up a life of joy. I believe God wants us to value, enjoy, and be grateful for each of the blessings He places in our lives, whether "big" or "small." So I continue to celebrate each day and to share that celebration as a testimony to the work God is doing.
