Monday - A Palace for the King of Kings

Inspiration
Peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces.
Psalms 122:7

Reading and Learning

I am taking a class on Monday evenings called Renewing Your Mind. This evening was my second class. Following is an excerpt from the study guide that quotes C. S. Lewis.

"Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you know that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make sense. What on earth is He up to?

The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were going to made into a decent little cottage; but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself."

Workbooks

Today we began a Bible School curriculum given to us by Calvary United Methodist Church. Because of Covid-19 they are unable to host Bible School at their church like they usually do so they are providing the materials and online activities to do from home.

Outdoor Fun

Kylin helped me in the garden this morning. We picked green beans and took the old plants to chickens.

Playtime with the puppies

A locust skin and relaxing in a basket on a chair.

One of our pastors and his wife and a couple other people from church allowed themselves to soaked Sunday as a part of a fundraiser for Brethren Woods Camp and Retreat Center.

It looked like some people may have gotten a little wetter than others!

On My Mind

For years I've had recurring dreams of finding a hidden spaces full of promise. There are three different dreams that I can remember clearly, having had them often enough that even when I am dreaming I recognize them. In one there is simply a room in the middle of the house that we had never noticed before. It is a nice size room, pleasant and full of potential. In another room there is a stairway at the side of the house that leads to a large, airy attic space, once again a place full of potential. I get excited at the possibilities every time I see this space. In the third dream there is an entire third floor that is very difficult to get to. It has been closed off and hidden away for a long time. But when it finally is accessed it is once again a space full of promise, fully furnished and laid out, ready to use with a little dusting and airing out. In my dream I'm always amazed at the beauty and space and potential that has been right here for me to make the most of if I just open the door. I'm not entirely sure of the meaning of these dreams but when I awaken I am always filled with the sense that I am missing something. Somewhere in my life, or in the plans God has for me, there is potential just waiting for me to discover. I am filled with hope and expectation after these dreams. It's exciting to think about the discoveries in life that God still has for me. It is also a reminder not to miss the opportunities that are right at my fingertips, simply because there are doors that I never think to open.

Today's Quote

If life's journey be endless where is it's goal? The answer is, it is everywhere. We are in a palace which has no end, but which we have reached. By exploring it and extending our relationship with it we are ever making it more and more our own.
~ Rabindranath Tagore
