Inspiration
Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.
Psalm 127:1

Reading and Learning

A verse of Scripture that always used to blow my mind is Psalm 127:1: "Except the Lord build house, they labour in vain that build it." I thought, If God has already built the house, why is anybody laboring to build it and how could it be in vain? Then one day I began to understand that God is not the carpenter. He's the architect. He builds by design, and the we, like carpenters, manifest in time and space what God has designed in eternity. An architect lays out on paper all the specs and weights and dimensions and then stands back and appraises his plan. He can "see" that plan fully realized. He envisions all the He has drawn on paper in three-dimensional reality in his mind, including the landscaping!
The blueprint for a building is in place before construction begins. A building isn't constructed to a certain point and then stopped so that the architect can work on the plumbing layout or the electrical plan. All the plans are in place before the first shovelful of dirt is moved.
God's plan has been in place for all time and before time. God's blueprints are exact, precise, and complete. They give all the details necessary for the whole project, start to finish. His master blueprint includes a specific blueprint for each of us individually. God sees the fullness  of who we can be right down to the minutest detail. His plan for us is flawless, far better than any plan we could ever conceive for ourselves.

Outdoor Fun

For the last month or so we have been having our church services outside and I love it. I missed last Sunday,
so I was doubly glad to be there this morning.

Today there was a car show across the road from where we live so Michael and I walked over to look around. Michael was my photographer.

I wanted to spend some time working in the garden but every time I tried I was interrupted - mostly by rain. So, while the vegetables are growing well, so are the weeds. And I'm enjoying watching these pears grow as well. I ordered a pressure canner and more jars this weekend in anticipation of the vegetables and fruit coming my way.

These babies are 10 weeks old now and growing like weeds. Naomi (the white female) was the biggest when we first got them but now Apollo (the black and tan male) has caught up and passed her. They like snuggles and chewing on toes.

In the Kitchen

Michael loves to cook up interesting mixtures of food. Some of his first attempts were very . . . interesting. But he's getting better at it and this turned out pretty good. He wanted to make this for his dinner and, after giving me a small taste, he ate it all. This particular concoction has ground beef, cabbage, tomatoes, onions and some seasonings (I'm not sure which ones.) Yesterday he mixed ground beef, corn, green beans and seasoning and ate all of that as well.

On My Mind

When I find myself trying to be someone I'm not, trying to live up to someone else's expectations, I begin to become a shell of who God created me to be. God has been working on me, letting me know that He did not make a mistake when He made me. He reminds me that it's a little presumptuous of me to doubt the wisdom of His creation. He reminds me that He delights in me and sings over me (Zephaniah 3:17). And this is so freeing! It allows me to truly take joy in life, pursue the things He created me to pursue, love the life He gave me, and rest in the knowledge that it's not about me, it's about the One Who created me, and He is in charge.

Quote of the Day
Life isn't about finding yourself, it's about discovering who God created you to be.
