Monday Moments - Making the Most of Each One

Inspiration

Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith! And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you.
Luke 12:27-31 (ESV)

Reading and Learning

Solomon's clothing was the work of man. The lily of the field is the work of God. . . . It is the lily that is more beautiful, the more perfect, and the more majestic. You see, the works of man are never perfect. But the works of God always are. And so perfection is not based on one's striving to produce good works. Perfection is found in the way of the lilies. . . Lilies neither toil nor spin. They don't strive to produce the works of God. Their secret is . . . they are the works of God. And in this, lilies are much wiser than men. A life spent trying to produce works of righteousness and holiness will never produce them  . . . and will be focused on the source of those works - the self. But a life focused on the works of God will be focused on the source of those works - God. So the secret is to not focus on your for God. The secret is to become the work of God. Cease striving to do the work of God . . . and start letting your life become His work. . . . Stop struggling to produce good works for God and let God produce His good work in you. Let everything you do and are begin with Him. . . . And your life will become as beautiful . . . as a lily of the field."

Outdoor Fun

We're enjoying all this warm, sunshiny, summery weather!
In the Kitchen

Pork gravy over toast, potato wedges and orange juice for breakfast; peppered turkey, honeydew, broccoli and cheese and butter bread for lunch. And for me a Spam sandwich and salad for dinner.

On My Mind

I've been thinking about how much pressure it takes off of me when I allow simply allow God to lead and trust that He will guide each step.  I have such a tendency to fret and worry about where He may want me go, what He may want me to do or say in the future that I often miss what He is trying to do through me in the moment. In all reality this moment is all I have, so it is up to me to live it the way He wants me to and trust Him with the rest.

Quote of the Day
A lily or a rose never pretends, and it's beauty is that it is what it is.
~ Jiddu Krishnamurti
