Inspiration
Know this my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness that God requires.
James 1:19-20
Reading and Learning
Here Michael is attending a youth Bible Study via Zoom. This was a very precious Bible study that I am so grateful to his youth leaders for providing, dealing head on but very lovingly with some of the issues and divisions our country is currently facing. Although I have tried to be educate and talk to Michael about the importance of loving and valuing everyone equally, I feel like this study and time of conversation with others affirming the same values was awesome.
Yesterday we also learned about the Industrial Revolution which I'm pretty sure I was much more interested in than Michael was. The changes in daily life surrounding the rise of factories is fascinating (and, honestly, sad) to me.
The preschoolers (and baby) have been very busy with their own learning. Our book this week is Bark, George by Jules Feiffer. Our letter of the week is Aa. And we're also learning through games and other hands on activities.
Outdoor Fun
Our outdoor time has been dominated by puppies!
After nearly two weeks of not having his bike Michael is very happy to have it functional again. This boy and his bike are nearly inseparable. When life gets tough a quick bike ride goes a long way toward making it better. We're so thankful for cousins who know how to fix bikes.
We got in some leash training with the puppies this evening.
On My Mind
I have so much on my mind right now that I don't even know how to put it into words. I'm sure I will eventually. I have been feeling a deep call to stand and speak. But I am so aware of how much I do not know that I am sometimes unsure of what to say and how to say it. During praise time Sunday morning at church I was deeply impressed with the fact that no matter what I stand for, I have to stand for God first. So, I'm praying. I'm learning. This week (it's only Wednesday but feels like it should be the 2nd Friday of the week!) I had to work through a difficult situation with a friend. And it was difficult because I spoke without first thinking through what I was saying and how it could be perceived. It was difficult because I failed to consider what the other person was dealing with and feeling. It was difficult because I forgot to pray before I spoke.
However, this much I do know. The heart of God is aching for the pain of those He created in His own image. All of humanity is created in His image and when one group of His beloved children treat another group as less than, He feels that pain. And He stands ready to heal. But that healing has to come through those of us who have, whether on purpose or unwittingly, caused that pain.
Quote of the Day
The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out life, and to let it come in.
