Inspiration
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. ~ Romans 15:13
Today our preschool lesson focused on the letter Cc and Caterpillars. We practiced writing the letter Cc, talked about the sound C makes and practiced saying that sound in the word Caterpillar. Then we practiced writing our numbers 1-20 with a cute little number caterpillar. And because I am so fascinated with the fact that these strange looking caterpillars turn into beautiful butterflies, we also reviewed the life cycle of butterflies with a coloring sheet.
One of their free time activities was letter matching with bears. I made this set of bears and honeypots years ago and they never seem to lose their charm. It's still a favorite free time activity choice.
Michael did his usual online work as well as reading aloud from his reading book. We also read a chapter from 1 Corinthians and studied a chapter from our history textbook. History is a favorite for both of us. I read the chapters aloud to him and then follow up with videos related to that chapter.
I didn't get much reading time today but did enjoy a few pages from this book.

"His words from the previous evening came to me all through the day. "Do not allow fear to bind you up, dear one. You will only lose what you already have. Accept what is given now. " p.236
In the Kitchen
For our afternoon snack we had cupcakes in celebration of this ray of sunshine's first birthday!
Breakfast pizza, apple slices and juice for breakfast. Pork chops, cheesy scalloped potatoes, corn and oranges for lunch. We are blessed!
Outdoor Fun
Michael was in fix it mode this afternoon. He pulled out the lawn mower and cleaned it up in preparation for mowing season. Here he was cleaning the top of it. A little later he took it to the front yard away from the little ones so that he could safely clean the rest of it and get it started. Our yard is already needing it's first mowing. Then he got out his tool set and tightened up some things on his bike. He has a gift for working with his hands and fixing things. I've learned that when he says he knows how to fix something, he probably really does.
I love springtime scenery! The top picture and the bottom left picture are from our evening walk at the schools across the road. The bottom right picture I took from our back yard.
On My Mind
This morning as I was getting ready for the day I was praying and I thanked God for the adventure of another day. In reality, at that moment I wasn't feeling very thankful. In fact, I was feeling a little stressed, mostly because I was overthinking things again. But the act of praying that prayer, that I didn't really feel, started a train of thought. I began to think of how great God really is and how, if I allow it to be so, every day I walk with Him really is an adventure. I get to play a part, however small, in the lives of others. I get to be a part of shaping, training and nurturing little ones who will one day grow up into adults who play their own part in shaping the world. I get to be a friend, to listen, encourage, collaborate, pray for and with, laugh and cry with others. I am privileged to have a part in this God Story that is being written every day. And the God who created and loves each of us, is interested in the details that make up my life. If I allow Him too, He infuses each moment with His Presence, love, guidance and abundance. He gives peace, insight, courage, love and joy that are real no matter what is going on around me. The creativity of the Creator can flow through me as I allow Him to live in me and work through me. And this truly does make every day a divine adventure.
If you are truly the Lord's, then your creativity cannot help but speak His name. Sometimes it will speak between the lines, and other times on the title page. ~ Thomas Terry, J. Ryan Lister in Why Your Creativity Matters to Christ
