Inspiration
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.
~ Proverbs 31:8-9
Outdoor Fun
It was a lot cooler and cloudier today than yesterday but we still enjoyed some time outside this morning.
There was some very dramatic play involving a daddy, a baby and dinosaur. Daddy alternately protected the baby bravely and sent her out to fend for herself against the fierce dinosaur. Both the daddy and the dinosaur suffered severe injuries during this epic battle but the baby came away unscathed.

There were also some more peaceful interludes with some cooking for cat, tree climbing and swinging, and exploring.
In the Kitchen
Toast, sausage, bananas and juice for breakfast. Cheesy macaroni and chicken casserole, green beans and strawberries for lunch. And a baked potato with bacon, cheese and sour cream for dinner. We are so blessed!

Learning and Reading
As we continued with our preschool Spring theme today we talked about bunnies and the letter Bb. We practiced writing both capital and lower case B's and colored the bunny and it's carrot.

We also fed the bunny strawberries (I didn't have orange pompoms so we made do with what I had) by placing them on the number that I called out. These look like some happy little bunnies with all their strawberries!
Michael did his usual five subjects online today. And we studied a chapter from our history textbook, read aloud from a storybook, completed a worksheet labeling a plant cell, and read 1 Corinthians 13.
This book has been one of the best books I ever bought. And I was blessed to find it at Goodwill for just a couple dollars. It's set up to read a little each day for a year, a bit like a devotional. I'm reading it this year for a second time and will probably read it many more times. Below is an excerpt from today's reading.
"In the Scriptures, darkness is a symbol of evil. Darkness is an absence, the absence of light. So too is evil . . ."
Evil is an absence?"
"evil is not so much a reality as the absence of a reality. It is not of the creation, but a denial of creation, a negation of what is, the negation of God. And so it can't exist on its own, but only in opposition to existence."
"What does that mean?"
"Truth exists of itself. It is that which is. But a lie cannot exist without truth. A lie is a twisting of the truth, and so it can only exist by the truth and in the denial of it. So too life exists without death. But death cannot exist without life. Death only exists as the negation of life. So too the good can exist without evil. But evil cannot exist without good. Evil is the denial of the good."
"The darkness of falsehood bears witness that the Truth exists. The darkness of hatred bears witness that Love exists. And the darkness of evil bears witness that God exists. So never let your heart its focus by dwelling on evil, on a shadow, on that which is not, to obscure that which is. Seek always beyond the shadow, and above it, to the Good, which is always there upon the throne...and to which even the darkness must ultimately bear witness...and bow its knee." (Day 91)
