Pete the Cat - I Love My White Shoes

We had so much fun with this unit based on the Pete the Cat book I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin.

Monday Activities

We began with a classification activity, sorting pictures of shoes cut from magazines into groups by color.

We also colored a picture of shoes in the order of colors shown in the book - white, red, blue and brown.

I made a memory game from shapes of shoes cut from cardboard. Each pair of shoes was a different color.

Tuesday Activities

Did Pete the Cat cry when he stepped in a pile of strawberries and his shoes turned red. No, he did not. He simply enjoyed his red shoes!

We sorted red shoes by color - small, medium and large.

And we matched colored cardboard Rs to the Rs of the same color on the letter mat.

Wednesday Activities

Pete also did not cry when he stepped in a pile of blueberries and his shoes turned blue.

On this day we also made blue playdough with this awesome playdough recipe

Then we used the playdough to form the letter B on our Letter B playdough mat.

Thursday Activities

Today we counted shoes and matched them with the correct numeral.

We also played our shoe memory game again.

Friday Activities

In honor of Pete the Cat's mishap with a pile of blueberries we made blueberry bread. The taste was delicious, but the the loaf crumbled when I took it our of the bread pan so it wasn't very pretty.

Since we've been talking about shoes all week we watched a video about a cobbler and then we fixed a broken (cardbaord) shoe of our own.

Who knew shoes could be so fun?!?!?
